Sebrights & Silkies Arriving May 11th!!!!

The sebrights, which originated in the early 1800's, have the unique distinction of being the only chicken that is "hen feathered." This means that the male, unlike other chickens, has no pointed sex feathers in the hackle, saddle, or tail. The sebrights are very small and are much in demand. The Goldens are golden bay and the Silvers are silver-white with both varieties having each feather laced in black.

Of all the ornamental chicken breeds, the Silkie Bantam is one of the most popular and beloved, and certainly one of the most entertaining to watch. Can't you tell why? They're the lap kitty of the chicken world, complete with hair-like plumage and an incredibly sweet temperament. We have heard it said that Silkies are like a "flock" of kittens... but unlike your other pets, your chickens can actually provide your breakfast! Silkies originated in the Far East, where they are still kept (and eaten) today. They have black skin and bones and 5 toes instead of the normal 4. Bantam Cochins and Frizzle Cochins - Arriving May 11th!

 Bantam Cochins:
 Soldiers, returning from China, brought the first Cochin bantams to England in the 1860's. They were known as 'Pekin" bantams then and are still referred to as "Pekins" in many parts of Europe today. Cochins are heavily feathered down the shanks and toes and appear to be much larger than they actually are. They are very gentle, excellent setters, require little space, and with their many color varieties are absolutely beautiful to look at. Cochins are the most popular of the feather footed legged bantams

Frizzle bantam Cochins:

Now this is truly a unique bird! Unlike all other chickens, the feathers on the frizzle curve outward and forward giving it the appearance of having walked through a wind storm backwards. These come in red, black, and white colors and show the other characteristics of the cochin. 

PLEASE NOTE: The frizzle feathering of these unique birds does not show as baby chicks. Because the frizzle trait does not breed true, approximately one fourth of your baby frizzle chicks will develop normal feathering and the others will be frizzled.

Mille Fleur D'uccle

Mille Fleur D'Uccle 

In French, "Mille Fleur" translates as "Thousand Flowers"--a poetic name appropriate for such magnificent plumage. The Mille Fleur pattern consists of a base of warm mahogany feathers, each one marked with a black crescent-moon, and tipped with a gibbous silver spangle. Picture yourself holding your soft little bearded, booted Mille Fleur hen: The overall effect is that you are bearing tiny bouquet of cheery flowers, or a collection of sparkling stars!

The birds are known for their mysterious, quirky expressions, and are quite friendly: a true favorite of adults and children alike. They are fair layers of tiny, creamy colored eggs. Their mature coloring takes time to manifest and does not usually appear until after the first adult molt. 

Mille Fleur d’Uccles are simply adorable. The d'Uccle's sweet disposition makes them a must for anyone who likes pet bantams; their calm beauty means they are also an indispensable breed for anyone who likes to show.
